Job Title: Advertising Sales Executive – Defence UK, Coulsdon
Reporting To: Advertising Sales Manager - Defence
Position Summary: To be responsible for all advertising and sponsorship, in the designated territory, for all Jane’s defence products and platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Sell Jane’s Defence advertising and sponsorship to new and existing customers
- To exceed monthly and annual sales revenue targets
- To increase Jane’s market share in the designated territory
- Manage the sales territory and customer accounts through telephone calls and field visits
- To develop close links with clients that will enable Jane’s to find new ways to develop revenue such as feature supplements, sponsorships and online advertising
- Produce monthly reports highlighting sales activities and market trends
- Monitor competitors’ activities in the market place
- Use the advertising sales contact management system, Media Services, to record all sales activities with customers
Key Tasks:
- To meet financial targets set for advertising sales and sponsorship in the designated territory
- To build good relationships with new and existing customers through telephone and visits, to increase advertising sales revenue
- To prepare a tactical plan with action points that supports the achievement of all revenue targets
- To gain comprehensive market and advertiser knowledge through monitoring competitive titles and services and speaking with all Jane’s non-advertisers
- To source leads from other publications and mediums in addition to the competition
- To submit regular product development ideas to enhance advertising revenue opportunities
- To attend exhibitions and conferences to meet existing and new customers
- To use the advertising sales contact management system to build a comprehensive, accurate database of existing and prospect sales accounts and a daily record of sales activity
- To carry out any additional tasks as requested by management
Personal Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
- The candidate should be educated to at least A Level, with a good standard of English, both written and spoken, and basic mathematics including percentages
Special Skills/Experience/Competencies:
- Two years’ advertising sales experience
- Good use of English, especially creative sales letter writing
- Ability to give effective, confident sales presentations to customers
- Familiar with travelling/driving in Europe
- The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills. Other requirements include a ‘can do’ spirit, good teamwork skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines, problem solving under pressure, good time-management and organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
